Joy Tanner Inspiration

Greetings! In deciding what projects we would like to work on in the pottery class I'm taking our teacher Mark Knott asked the class to bring in a photograph of clay forms produced by other clay artist that we would like to figure out how to make. We choose the "Ewers" made by Joy Tanner. We tried various ways of creating the tops; either by closing the form then cutting out the opening or making the top from a slab and attaching; altering the shape; adding a handle; then last but not least glazing. This was a fun project and there were many variations. I hope to get photos of the other students inspirations when they are finished, but right now all I have are the ones that I made. Mine are much smaller than Joys' and not soda fired.... but I was happy with the outcome! Thanks to Joy Tanner for the inspiration!
